My Lab: Spank

2229

Your Name: Rebecca G., Texas

When is your Labˊs birthday? February 16, 2009

What is your Labˊs favorite food?

He only eats dog food, but gets the occasional healthy snack – carrots, peas, cheese, and peanut butter..

What is your Labˊs most mischievous behavior?

He is a notorious sock-stealer. We fold our laundry on top of our pool table, and when we leave socks folded up in pairs, even in the very center of the table, we’ll find them strewn around the house and in the backyard. They are never damaged or even undone from each other. He just jumps up, grabs them, and leaves them around the house and yard for us to find when we get home. He’s not sorry!

Does your Lab participate in any special activities?

No official activities, although he is our neighborhood mascot and meets-and-greets with everyone, and everything, he sees.

Please share a favorite story about your Lab.

My favorite thing about Spank is that he truly cares about the environment. He is the best recycler in our neighborhood! On our morning runs, he finds water bottles, milk jugs, cardboard boxes, roofing materials (they are still building in our area), kids’ toys, newspapers, tree limbs, etc. He swoops them up, carries them for miles, and deposits them on our front lawn. Many times, he’s wrestled a flattened cardboard box into submission, picked it up (eyes totally shielded by the sheer size of it) and carried it, stumbling over it, to the house. Fellow morning runners and walkers think he is such a character and place bets on what they’ll see in his mouth each day. I often post pictures of his daily treasure piles on Facebook, and my friends just laugh. At 5:30 a.m., these are the types of shenanigans that keep me motivated. He is such a character, and he truly fills my heart with happiness.
